How to Work with God Part 2

March 16, 2016

Many people are very comfortable blaming God for the bad things that happen in their lives. They reason that it was His will that these things happened, but the flaw in this type of logic is that it takes all responsibility off of them. The truth is that God has given us all dominion and authority, and we now have the right to use His power to enforce His promises. With this in mind, we must ask ourselves if we are using that authority in every situation. If we do not cooperate with God, we will not see any of the manifestations of grace.

God gave everything to us . Jesus gave His disciples all authority and power, and then told them to go out and use it (Matthew 10:1, 8). He said this even before they were born again and received the Holy Spirit, so this commandment applies even more to born-again Believers. In the very beginning, God gave mankind dominion over all the earth, and everything in it (Genesis 1:26). After Adam sinned, God could not fix the problem without a human body. This was because He had already given all power to mankind, and He could not go back on His promise.

To see physical manifestations of what we have, we must believe.  We have received everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Christ (2 Peter 1:3). This means we do not need to rely on our own self-effort. We must instead depend on Jesus, Who is Grace. He has already done what we cannot do. Whatever we think about is the way we become (Proverbs 23:7). Our lives go in the direction of our dominant thoughts. Wherever we end up in life is no accident. How we feel is a result of how we think. We give strength to whatever we focus on. Having a mindset that does not line up with the Word of God ultimately leads to death, but being spiritually minded leads to life and peace (Romans 8:6). We must study the Scriptures, because we cannot know if our mindset is against the Word if we do not know what it says.
