Jesus Our True Source

May 19, 2014

Psalm 97:5 says, “The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth” (The Amplified Bible). Huge problems melt down in the presence of the Lord. Gigantic issues shrink to nothing. The presence of the Lord frees us from worry. Although we cannot pretend that our troubles don’t exist, we can bring them to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. We can run to Him and embrace Him, knowing that He is our source.

We begin to embrace our Lord by acknowledging the precious promises found in the Word. It brings me great comfort to know that He is on my side, and that He has promised to never leave me or forsake me. Hebrews 13:5 in the Amplified Bible says, “Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not, in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” We don’t have to fret about what we have or don’t have. Instead, we praise and thank the Lord for what He has already done in our lives.

Jesus said in Luke 12:6, 7: “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And [yet] not one of them is forgotten or uncared for in the presence of God. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not be struck with fear or seized with alarm; you are of greater worth than many [flocks] of sparrows.” Jesus doesn’t even forget the sparrows, and we are worth much more than many flocks of sparrows! How much more does He think about and care for us?

We matter so much to Jesus that He knows the number of hairs on our heads! We are valuable to Jesus, and we can be assured that He is mindful of even the minute details of our lives.

David constantly encouraged Himself by meditating on the goodness of God. Psalm 139: 16-18 says, “Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them. How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand” (The Amplified Bible).

Many times, when we are facing difficult circumstances, we may panic and feel alone in our struggles. However, we should come to the realization that it is not about how we feel. It’s all about what the Word says. When we embrace Jesus, we begin to allow Him to lift us up, no matter what obstacles are set before us. Psalm 3:3 says, “But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”

Whenever you feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, run to Jesus and embrace Him. Remember, He is your source. So, embrace your source by acknowledging His presence.
