Why Storms Come

May 10, 2010

When the storms of life come, don’t fear. Jesus has given us the authority to overcome tough times. However, we must have the courage to execute our authority and speak the Word of God even in the midst of storms.

As people of God, we have to know what to do during the storms of life.
Storms will come. Being hearers and doers of the Word empowers us to endure the storms of life. There is an expected end; we can’t give up. We will see the end of our faith. We are charged to love and bless even our enemies (Matthew 5:44-46). This proves we are the sons and daughters of God.

Storms do not mean:
God doesn’t love you. God is angry with you. Don’t personalize your storms. Use storms as an opportunity to draw closer to God.

Storms do mean:
You have the ability to endure and overcome.

Why do storms come?
Storms come as a result of disobedience. Storms come as a result of obedience. Storms come as a result of your connections with certain people.

It’s imperative for Believers to operate in the authority of God’s Word.

To change situations in your life, execute your authority. Authority is power, capability, or the right to do something. Speaking words contrary to God’s Word hinders your ability to get results.

Jesus’ Words healed a centurion (Luke 7:2-10).
The centurion understood authority and knew that Jesus’ Words would change things. Because the servant had faith in Jesus’ Word, he was made whole.

Use your authority to bind things on Earth, and loose the will of God (Matthew 18:18, 19).
Any time we agree with God, and ask anything according to His will, it will be done. What we say is eternal, and God’s ability is released when we use our authority. God is looking for an army of Believers who will agree with him. His power is released when we agree, and speak His Word.

Even in the midst of death, Jesus spoke life (John 11:1-11, 13-15, 17-35).
When Lazarus was dead for four days, Jesus spoke life concerning the situation. Because Jesus regularly communed with God, He knew God always heard Him. Jesus knew what would happen when He spoke the Word. If you believe, you will see the glory of God. Jesus can change any situation in life if we believe (John 11:39-44).
