Staying Positive in a Negative World Part 4 (How We Respond to Negative Situations)

The outcome to our negative situation is determined by what kind of attitude we have. “For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast” (Proverbs 15:15, NLT). When we have a glad heart, it will cause us to overcome, regardless of the circumstances. I personally have had negative situations in my life that led to a bad attitude and what I call stinking thinking. However, once I changed the attitude in my heart and my stinking thinking and began to rejoice in the Lord, things began to turn around and not seem as bad as I had thought.
We are always given a choice on how we will respond to situations. The two choices as you probably already know is to either have a positive or a negative one.
Staying positive in the middle of negative situations will help us to overcome. This can be accomplished in several ways:
1. Learn to look beyond your obstacles. Know that there are good things waiting for you.
2. Change your attitude in order to get your breakthrough. Think positive and that you will see results.
3. Put your trust in God and his Word. Notice I said in both God and his Word. One without the other will not bring the expected results needed.
4. Don’t live in your past. Move forward to what is a head.
Make a commitment to stop complaining and whining about your negative situation. God wants us to see beyond the obstacles in order to see him. We have to also not allow ourselves to become bitter and it growing in us. Being bitter will pollute us and bring unforgiveness, which can lead to revenge. When we are negative, we can’t expect God and his Word to come to pass in our life. Begin to proclaim God’s Word and not negative words over our life. Say this scripture over your life. “Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us” (Romans 8:37, AMP).
Begin to see yourself in the way that God sees you. Understand that when we give up during the difficult situations in our lives keeps us from experiencing God’s love for us.
